Abstract

The advent of Industry 4.0 technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics, has fundamentally transformed industrial operations and workforce dynamics. This study investigates how these technologies impact workforce roles and skills demand across various sectors.

Findings reveal that 75% of participants experienced changes in job roles, with an increased demand for technical and analytical skills. Additionally, 82% of respondents emphasized the need for new competencies to keep pace with technological advancements. However, challenges such as resistance to change and a shortage of skilled personnel emerged as significant barriers to effective implementation.

Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through surveys and in-depth interviews with industry professionals, including managers and employees, to gather both quantitative and qualitative insights. To address these challenges, this study recommends strategic workforce training programs, industry-academia collaborations to bridge skill gaps, and structured change management initiatives to ease technological adoption.

These insights contribute to the existing literature by offering a deeper understanding of Industry 4.0’s influence on workforce dynamics while providing actionable strategies for skill development and adaptation in an evolving industrial landscape.
